Neurodiversity at work course

“We were thrilled with the attendee feedback on the session and would 100% recommend it.”
Alex Shaw, Diversity Network

This course isn’t just about being woke cos it’s trendy. It’s about understanding people, improving communication, and making simple changes that benefit your entire workplace.

Why have this course?

Look around your workplace. Literally everyone has a colleague, client or supplier with autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and/or ADHD. So don’t you think it would be a good idea for them to learn a bit more about neurodiversity?

This course isn’t just a “nice to have” – it makes economic sense. Neurodiverse people are 30% to 50% more productive than their peers and there are a ton of studies* to show that inclusive workplaces generate more revenue. You’re going to learn how to get the best out of each team member (neurodiverse and neurotypical alike) while avoiding any of that horrid litigation stuff (simply having this course is an automatic defence against potential discrimination claims).

But more than anything else, this is a fun, interesting and rewarding 6 hours. You are all really busy and if you’re giving up your time to come to this course, I will do my level best to make sure it’s worth it.

What is the course content?

It’s a 6-hour course with the following hour-long modules, delivered online or in real life.

  1. An introduction to neurodiversity
  2. ADHD
  3. Autism
  4. Dyslexia and dyspraxia
  5. Working with neurodiverse colleagues
  6. Adapting to neurodiverse clients

The first 4 modules cover the actual conditions, and the last 2 modules allow participants to apply their new knowledge to real-life situations.

Each module is stand-alone, as I recognise it’s not always possible for people to come to each session, and depending on their role, they may find some modules less applicable to their job.

You can combine this course with my workshops for neurodiverse staff.

What are the learning outcomes?

Attendees will learn:

  • What neurodiversity is
  • Some common characteristics
  • What the different conditions are like
  • How it actually feels to have one of these conditions (through interactive activities)
  • How to identify these conditions (as they’re often undisclosed)
  • How we can adapt the workplace for neurodiverse colleagues
  • How to adapt services for neurodiverse clients/customers
  • Their legal rights and responsibilities when it comes to neurodiversity
  • How to deal with challenges
  • Balancing different needs

My clients tell me that communication amongst the team tends to improve as a result of this course, demonstrating first-hand that the whole workplace benefits from neurodiversity training!

Can I have…?

Yes.

This course is designed for you, your team and your workplace, and if you need it adapted for whatever reason, I’ll do my best to accommodate you.

I’m a big believer in people learning best when they’re comfortable and relaxed, so attendees can ask “stupid” questions, go out to take a call, fetch a tea or do whatever they need to do. There’s a lot of humour and interaction, and no judging. Basically, I teach the way I want to be taught.

What happens afterwards?

All attendees receive a comprehensive resource pack and certificate (a real one, on actual paper).

You also get a unique package of PR and social media support included as standard. This varies according to the client but generally includes social media promotions, graphics for you to use in your own marketing, your company name put forward to enquiring journalists and so on. I feel that if you’re putting your money where your mouth is when it comes to neurodiverse inclusion, this should be celebrated far and wide, and who better to do it than someone who experiences it first-hand?!

I want to book you and pay you all of the money please

Excellent. It’ll cost you £2,000 unless you’ve got a referral code (if you use a decent recruitment agency, they might have one). Email me or call 0161 4488846.

*I can dig these out for you on request.
